WA complete ‘back to shell’ facility refit of the existing NEC Arena, including seating structure, all seating components, varying levels of hospitality, concessions, back stage and ancillary facilities: coupled with an adjacent entire innovative new build pre-entertainment space of 4,500m2 and a multitude of facilities and embedded technology.
While identified as an iconic structure, this arena suffered largely due to its age, requiring improvement towards customer experience, sense of arrival, its lack of flexibility and its prior temporary seating structure. The introduction of its expansive pre-entertainment space has brought significant opportunity to operational dynamics and approach to events, increasing dwell time and amplifying spend per head by a considerable margin.
In parallel to working closely with the title sponsor, extensive anchor events were held throughout the construction period, presenting the complexity of multiple phases and hard fast immoveable deadlines within an overall condensed programme. Albeit, with each of the phases completed successfully on time and within budget. Novus were appointed from the infancy of the scheme to project manage the delivery of the £30 million scheme for the entire project life cycle, managing multiple contractors within overlapping streams of construction, in and around a continual event programme and site wide campus operation.
